South Paw's tribute to "NIKKI" 02/09/1992 - 04/04/2006
I’d like to recognize a very special friend that we had the pleasure of taking care of for many years. I first met Nikki many years ago when he was just a puppy. At the time, I was working for a veterinarian and Lynn was our UPS lady. She started bringing Nikki for his puppy visits. Lynn & Buzzy were planning a vacation and needed a baby sitter for Nikki and she asked me if I would be willing to watch her baby. My husband, Bryan and I agreed to watch Nikki and that was just the beginning. Nikki was always such a joy to have stay in our home. He never messed up a thing and was so well behaved. One of our memories we have of Nikki is you could NEVER use the fabric softener, Downey, on the blankets or sheets at our home. He would chew or suck a hole in the blanket or whatever was washed in the fabric softener. He loved it! He loved to play and one of his favorite toys he’d bring along was a fuzzy black football. He carried it everywhere he went. When our son, Tyler was born, Nikki brought Tyler a ball just like his. Lynn & Buzzy got Nikki a companion named Natalie. A precious little black & white cocker spaniel puppy was to be his new friend. They made quite a striking pair! Nikki was South Paw’s official first customer and he stole our hearts. We have cared for Nikki & Natalie for many years and share a lot of wonderful memories. We are deeply saddened to say that Nikki passed away this past spring. He lived a long life in a very caring and loving home. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten! Bryan and I want to say "THANK YOU" Lynn & Buzzy for sharing this sweet boy with our family. We were so fortunate to know him and a pleasure to be able to care for such a nice fellow. So, Nikki, kudos to you! Bryan & Angela Vanhoose
